Step-by-step instructions
- 1
Prep the Full Side Panel
Clean from the front door edge to the rear quarter panel. Pay extra attention to the door jambs and sill area where overspray and grease accumulate.
Pro tip: Open the doors and clean 5cm inside each door jamb — the graphic will overlap here on some models.
- 2
Map Out the Alignment
Side graphics run along a specific body line on the 911. Identify the reference line — usually the lower door crease — and mark the start point with a small piece of masking tape.
Pro tip: Stand back 3 metres and check alignment by eye before committing.
- 3
Apply the Door Section First
The door section is the largest piece. With a helper holding one end, apply from the front edge backwards, squeegeeing as you go.
Pro tip: Work on a flat, calm day — wind will cause the vinyl to fold onto itself.
- 4
Work Around Door Handles
Use a trim removal tool to gently lift the door handle surround. Tuck the vinyl edge underneath for a clean finish.
Pro tip: Heating the vinyl around recessed handles makes it conform much more easily.
- 5
Apply the Rear Quarter Section
The rear quarter piece follows on from the door graphic. Align to the body crease and ensure a seamless join with the door piece.
Pro tip: A 1–2mm overlap at joins is better than a gap — it will not be visible once the transfer tape is removed.
- 6
Final Heat Forming
Run a heat gun over all edges, curves and joins. This activates the adhesive fully and ensures long-term adhesion.
Pro tip: Don't skip this step — edge-lifting after a few months is almost always caused by inadequate heat forming at install.
