Wheel Decal Installation Guide

Wheel Decals About 45 min Level 2/5 5 steps

Apply wheel decals cleanly and permanently — even on complex spoke designs.

Tools you will need

  • Squeegee
  • Isopropyl alcohol
  • Cotton buds
  • Heat gun
  • Trim tool

Step-by-step instructions

  1. 1

    Remove Wheels if Possible

For the best results, remove the wheels from the car. This allows you to work flat and access all areas of the spoke.

Pro tip: If you can't remove them, turn the wheel so the spoke you're working on is at the 9 o'clock position.

  2. 2

    Clean Thoroughly

Brake dust is extremely sticky. Use a dedicated wheel cleaner first, then rinse and dry, then finish with IPA on a cotton bud in all crevices.

Pro tip: Brake dust contamination is the number one reason wheel decals fail prematurely.

  3. 3

    Apply Decal to Spoke

Peel the backing and position the decal centrally on the spoke. Use the squeegee to press firmly from centre outward.

Pro tip: Wheel decals are typically smaller and more manageable than body graphics — work slowly and precisely.

  4. 4

    Wrap Into Edges

Use a trim tool wrapped in cloth to press the decal firmly into the inner edge of each spoke.

Pro tip: A wooden cocktail stick wrapped in cloth is perfect for getting into tight spoke edges.

  5. 5

    Heat to Conform

Apply gentle heat over the full decal to fully activate the adhesive. Pay special attention to any curved spoke sections.

Pro tip: Don't overheat — 30 seconds with a heat gun at 20cm distance is sufficient.
